Improving
your Credit Rating
Do not have just one universal credit rating and credit
score. Each lender uses their own judgement and will set their own credit limits based on
their own internal guidelines. However it is possible to improve your rating by following
a few basic guidelines. Being listed on the Voter Roll and living at your address for some
time is preferable to moving your place of residence regularly or not being listed on the
Voters Roll. Companies that extend credit prefer stability. Make sure that all your
current credit agreements are always settled promptly, and be extra sure to pay monthly
accounts promptly - these are just the type of payment records that are passed back to
credit reference agencies. The same is true for your mortgage, and your utility and
telephone bills. Not all of these will pass the information back to credit reference
agencies, but many do. |
